Over the last 10-12 months, Geocivil has been involved in the construction phase of the Ōtākaro/Avon River Precint in the Christchurch CBD. Working in conjunction with the earthwork contractor, Geocivil helped determine the density of the compacted material used on site on nearly 700 different sample points along the project’ pre-determined area.
Geocivil used a nuclear densometer (NDM) to establish the percentage of compaction of the stabilised material. The data resulting from NDM testing is used in this case to optimise earthwork compaction control. An appropriate levels of compaction will in turn help ensure the quality of the shared paths built.
